  • Our Latest News

Xanga has just taken the back seat.  Sorry!  Since the last time I posted we had a hurricane, lost a lot of shingles, our fencing, some landscaping, but we faired so much better than a lot of our neighbors.  About 65% of our neighborhood is having to gut their houses from all the water they got in through their roofs.  Many of their roofs actually caved in.  We were very blessed to not have any water damage on the inside.  We just got a little bit in through the windows.  Other than that, our house is just fine!  Mikayla is doing okay aside from some feeding/digestive issues.  She has to have a special hypoallergenic formula and take Zantac for acid reflux, but the doc says she should grow out of it all hopefully by her first birthday.  She gets cuter, and more stubborn, every day.  She is full of personality and is really a little fireball.  We are going to have our hands full!

In other news, it is sad to say, that Myk and I are separating for a while... Yes, we are going to be living apart for the next few months to a year.  But, have no fear, we are not on the verge of divorce, he is just going back to work for KBR in Iraq.  He leaves in about 3 weeks.  It was a tough decision, but one that had to be made.  Mikayla & I are going to miss him like crazy, but we are so grateful to have the friends and family, especially our church family, to help take care of us while he is away.  We will really need everyone's prayers to make it through this time.  We've done it before, and were made all the stronger for it, but this time will be so different with Mikayla in our lives.  Pray, especially for Myk's safety and for good friends and a good support system there for him.

I'll sign off with some beautiful pics of Mikayla:

  • Mikayla Reese is Here

Sorry my xanga is the last to be updated, but as many of you know already, Mikayla Reese is here!  She was born July 31, 2008, 7:17 pm, via c-section, and weighed a whopping 4 lbs, 14 oz.  But she is healthy as a horse, and eats like a little piglet.  She's up to about 5 1/2 lbs now and is just as beautiful as can be.  Myk and I are learning to live on 2 hours of sleep at a time, but we wouldn't trade this for anything in the world.  We are so inlove with her and so thankful to God for giving us such a healthy and beautiful baby girl.  Along with her, my new nephew, Andrew Ryan, arrived on the 13th, weighing 7 1/2 lbs, already 2 lbs bigger than Mikey.  Brandon calls the babies "Kayla Baby" and "Andrew Baby."  It's so cute, he calls me and asks if he can talk to "Kayla Baby."  He's also asked Andrew if he wanted his blanket and toys to play with.  How sweet!  Going to catch a nap now while she's sleeping!  Gotta' get it when you can!

  • Tonight & Tomorrow!

Wow, wow, wow!  Tonight, Myk & I are headed to the hospital to start the induction process for Mikayla Reese to arrive.  This is Christmas times a million, billion, gazillion!  We had a couple of ultrasounds done yesterday, and so far, besides her being on the very small side, she's perfectly healthy and ready to be born.  There is a chance we may have to do a c-section because I supposedly have a narrow pelvis that may make natural delivery very difficult, but because she is small they are going to let us try the natural delivery first.  Please be praying for us all tonight and tomorrow that we will be able to deliver without a c-section and that it will all go smoothly and that we'll both be healthy and safe.  Pray for Myk, too!  He can get very queasy, but I think he will do just fine.  We just can't wait to meet our baby and hold her in our arms.  Thank you, Lord, for a great pregnancy and for giving us this chance!  My next post should be showing off a beautiful baby girl!

  • Baby Shower

Last weekend was amazing.  I had my baby shower, given by my best friend Steph, my sis Kelli, Mrs. Adrienne, & my Mom.  It was the best baby shower an expecting mom could hope for.  It was really overwhelming just how many friends and family were there.  What a blessing.  I do believe Mikayla now has enough clothes that she will not have to wear the same outfit twice anytime in the first three months after she's born, which is almost a shame because so many of them are too cute to be worn only once.  I'll just have to change her outfits a few times a day to make sure they all get worn.

After the shower, we all headed to the beach.  Myk & Ben got the chair rail finished in the nursery - which looks amazing.  Then, to top off an already awesome weekend, my other best friend Katie and her mom came down and gave me sewing lessons and made the valance for the nursery.  They also helped hang some artwork that I made and now it's just about ready for a certain baby girl to move into.  Overall, it was just a fabulous weekend.  We just have 4 more weeks (or less)!

  • We had a great weekend with my nephew, Brandon!  We took him to the aquarium and just had a blast watching him get so excited about all the fish and the white tigers.  He would point to the tigers and say, "Ouch!  Bite you!"  Too cute.

Also had another great baby check up today.  Here's an updated pic - 29wks/4days!  Getting huge now!

  • Porche Baby Factory Update

I had my 7 mth check-up today and the Porche Baby Factory is progressing well.  Mikayla is growing fine, getting bigger and giving me natural lipo-suction and lap-band procedure in the process.  I've had problems gaining weight throughout the pregnancy, but at my checkup today I have finally gained 1.5 lbs!  I'm still under my pre-pregnancy weight, but at least this is some progress.  I am, however, measuring just slightly ahead on my belly size, at 28.5 cm, which I'm just at 27 wks 4 days, so that made my doc feel better even though I hadn't actually put on much poundage.  I'm feeling much better than earlier on, too, no more nausea and way less gagging at the slightest hint of a smell or brushing my teeth.  I'll try to post a belly pic or two later.  I have to give up my laptop for now so Myk can study for his last final!!!!!!  I'll be so glad when his school is over!!!!!

  • We're Having A...

    GIRLY GIRL!!!

We got a great view of a very healthy, very active, baby girl!  She moves constantly!  It was so neat to see her kicking and moving her fist and feel it at the same time.  We are on cloud nine.  I have to say Thank You Lord for such a great report!  The doc said we couldn't have had a better, healthier check up.  Here she is:

Her profile.  You can see her nose and a fist.

Here you can see her face from the front.

    No boy parts here!

We could see her flip over onto her tummy for this pic.  You can really see her spine.

Last, but not least, a 3d image of her face.

  • The time is getting close to find out what model Porche we are having!  I can hardly stand the wait!  I still haven't done any real shopping or nursery decorating yet.  I'm surprised I've been this disciplined and not just gone crazy buying stuff.  I'm sure that once we find out if it's a boy or girl, it will be much harder to refrain from picking up a few things here and there.  I'll have to shop eventually.  Just 6 more days and hopefully I'll know who/what I'm shopping for.  There's so much I can't wait to know besides just the girl or boy aspect.  I want to know what its personality will be, who it will look like, what will be its likes and dislikes?  So many questions and a whole lifetime to try and figure them out.  I know that often times people can't tell on the first attempt or they get an inaccurate reading, but I am just praying that we get a clear view!

If nothing else, at least Myk and I will get to see our baby together and know how it's doing and see it moving around in its little watery home.  That will still be a great feeling even if we can't tell what it is.

  • He's Gone

It is done.  Beau is gone.  We found him a new family and he left at noon today.  It was harder than I thought, but not because of me missing him, but because I felt bad about the thought of him missing us and not understanding why we were not there anymore and why was he not in his home.  I also felt really bad for Myk and Kelli.  They were really attached to him and I think it will be hard for them not having him around.  However, they did understand the necessity of him going.  It will be sad though when Maggie Moo comes over looking for her friend and he will be gone.  I don't think she'll mind, however, not having someone constantly chewing her ears to pieces.  I admit, I did cry.  I cried like a baby.  I may even cry when Myk gets home from work and his doggy is not here to greet him this time.

The new family is great though.  They are originally from LA, too, and live pretty close.  The wife reminds me so much of my Aunt Gail, which is an awesome thing because it was so relieving when I met her and realized just how good she was going to be to him.  She has two other dogs, a pup Beau's age and size, and then an older dog. Their little pup needed a playmate and I think that will be good for Beau, too.  It will be hard for me though to hear my little nephew calling out for Beau when he comes over.  Everytime I get on the phone with him, he just says, "Beau, Beau, Beau."  He did love Beau, but Beau could get pretty jealous of him and that worried me with the new baby coming.  Maybe when we're through birthing babies and the kids are older we'll try again with an older, calmer dog.  Until then, so long Beauregard Lafitte Devereaux.  Myk and Kelli will miss you, and maybe even me, just a little.
